Great find in sleepy Suffolk.
We were having a short break in Suffolk and Norfolk when we found ourselves without somewhere to eat on a Sunday evening and a Monday evening. It would appear that lots of pubs and restaurants in these counties either don’t cook on these evenings or close totally. Getting desperate we stumbled on The Fleece, which looked like a gastro pub. We were so grateful to find somewhere open, we weren’t too bothered about gastronomic excellence, but this is what we found. The food was superb on both nights, the staff, welcoming and attentive and very professional. One sweet waitress even ran to a local superstore to get me some apple juice which they had run out of. That’s what I call initiative. The decor was comfortable and modern in an old building, which worked very well. So much so that we returned the following night and had an equally great dinner. Good coffee too. Definitely worth a look. We told our B&B hosts to recommend it to their guests.
Great food and great service
Fantastic meal here last night. The group of seven had six different starters and six different mains. All were served up superbly. The chorizo Scotch egg I had to start was to die for! Really wish now I had gone for the venison like the brother-in-law but my battered cod meal was delicious. Prompt friendly service with no pressure between courses. Good wine selection, bags of space and free parking at rear. Definitely going back for that venison soon!
